Listed below is information regarding the Tahoe Donner Forestry Department Programs. Chipping Program Vegetative Drop-off Program Firewood Purchase Program Tree Removal Permit Program Defensible Space Program Town of Truckee Curbside Yard Waste Collection Program
For 2010 program dates – May 17 to October 8. Materials to be chipped must be stacked with the cut or large ends facing the street. Material that can be chipped includes:

Please make sure your pile or piles are in front of your home and stacked on the edge of the road. Please do not stack your pile on access easements. Please do not stack your pile higher than 4 feet. Do not compact the material in your piles, instead stack them loosely. You may make as many piles, as many times during the year as needed. Please remember to keep your piles away from snow poles, fire hydrants, trees, landscaping or structures. Permits: Please fill out a chipping application and put pink chipper tickets on your piles of material to be picked up. Piles without pink tags will not be chipped. Chipping applications and tickets can be obtained at the Forestry Department (14514 Northwoods Boulevard), Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and from the Member Services Office (11509 Northwoods Boulevard), Monday through Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 days-a-week between June 21 and September 6. For 2010 program dates – Selected Fridays and Saturdays between June 5and October 2. Selected materials will be accepted at two sites. Drop-off location: Wood Yard, located off a dirt road between 12469 and 12605 Skislope Way Materials accepted at this location:
Drop-off location: End of Alder Creek Road, continue past the end of the asphalt approximately one-quarter mile down the dirt road Materials accepted at this location:
Firewood sales start on the Saturday before Father’s Day (June 20). Permits are available for a maximum of two cords of wood per lot every other year. The cost of the wood is $85.00 plus tax (total of $92.24) per cord for 2010. The wood permit is good only for the year in which it is purchased. There will be no refunds. General Information The wood is a mixture of red fir, white fir, Jeffrey pine and lodgepole pine. The wood is cut into firewood rounds approximately 16 inches in length. You are responsible for loading your own vehicle. The wood yard hours are from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The wood yard will be open on selected Fridays and Saturdays this summer, as listed below:

Please call the Forestry Department at (530) 587-9432 to schedule an appointment for one of the staff to view a tree and mark it for removal. At the time of the inspection, a removal permit will be issued and must be signed by the property owner prior to approval. A list of local vendors who perform tree and brush removal services will be provided with the removal permit; this list is also available at the Forestry Department (14514 Northwoods Boulevard), next to the Tahoe Donner General Maintenance Yard.
